Threat of Western decline stems from adoption of faith, not loss | National Post

A nice counterpart to some of the writings on the influence of religion, and whether decline or strength is more of a ‘threat’. Simplistic assertions on other side do a disservice to the complexity of how these issues play out.

Very interesting piece. I’m not a huge fan of “déclinisme” and take all such claims with a hefty grain of salt. So an argument that starts with that and then seeks to claim that religion is responsible will find no friend in me. It is a factor, like nationalism, globalization, international migration and so on that leads to change. And that’s OK because societies aren’t meant to be static. Strong reactions to change are an indication to me that the society is healthy even if a minority takes to extreme views.
